Welcome back to our International Artist Series.
Today,
we’re catching up with three amazing artists from the North African country of Algeria. I
asked each artist how
their region and culture influenced their work, and they delivered
great
responses.
Soudassi 6
Our first feature belongs to Soudassi 6, a talented designer and artist from Algiers, Algeria. Inspired by the cultural beauty of North Africa, Soudassi creates magical surreal illustrations of abstract birds and nature scenes.

Birds
The weather is what I love the most in Algeria. During summer I wake up
early, and spend the morning at the beach. On my way back home, I buy some
fruits, then I take a nap. For me, it’s the perfect day.

North
Africa is a melting pot of cultures like Berber, Arab, Africans and
occidental. It’s probably our greatest treasure. So I’m trying to include
elements of all these cultures in my artwork.

The Algerian
art community is developing slowly. Street art is more present and exhibitions are regularly organized. I believe
that it all will help the art community grow.
Faiza Benaouda Mebarki
Our next artist is Faiza, an incredible illustrator from Oran, Algeria. Using a mixture of digital painting techniques, Faiza creates charming illustrations of diverse character designs and everyday life.

Pink
I like living in Algeria because there is a rich diversity that allows me to be inspired almost all the time.
Funny Illustration
I live in Oran, it is the most active city in the country. How can you not be inspired!
Dina
9bayliya
The art community here is very very large and extremely talented.
Mohamed Daoui
Enter the dreamy illustrations of our final feature, Mohamed Daoui. Intrigued by anything that is challenging, this multi-talented artist and designer creates phenomenal pieces with stunning colors.

Wonders of the Sea
I’m a 28-year-old art director, graphic designer and 3D artist who grew up in a small city in the southern part of
Algeria called Ouargla.
Lion’s Mane
Everything I’ve created I learned on my own and all of my inspirations come from outside of Algeria.

Hands
About 90% of designers in Algeria are self-taught, but I’d rather go live somewhere else with good weather and a better living style.
I try to
avoid some as much as I can except for a few cool designers that I have met
and are now my friends.
Many thanks to the artists who took the time to answer my
questions and share a bit about themselves and how their country and/or culture
has affected their work. You can check out more of their work in the links
